Mate for a day Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

That's right I was mate for a day, because Alan's foot is still hurt. I worked the deck, and had a blast. I even got to hook and then wire a sailfish today. The wahoo fishing is GREAT, and the sailfish are cooperating also. Throw in a dolphin here and there, and it makes for some good fishing days. We leave Saturday to fish 2 tournaments out of town, one in Maryland, and one in Manteo, NC. We will be back in town on the 18th, but I hope to let everyone know how we are doing while we are away.

Remember that September the fishing is great for wahoo, and sailfish are still chewing then, and October the fishing is great also, or at least has been in the years past. Give me a call, if you are interested, and like to inquire about a trip for you, your friends, family, or clients.

Well I guess it is time to do a little catch-up, I apologize for not getting to an update until now, but to be honest we have not been fishing a whole lot this month. Weather has been a part of it, but really not many calls for fullday fishing. The fishing has really been pretty good up until this point. D.U. was not a time for us to shine unfortunately, but as always we had a great time with Wendell, Davis, C.F. Hayes ,and Biz. I really wish we could have done a better job. The picture is exactly what we provided this weekend for the guys, but hey that is fishing. We were in the game during the Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament, but not this time. I hope we can redeem ourselves soon.

Dolphins Struyk again Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Russell Struyk has fished with us many times and so has his brother Curtis. Russell brought some folks that he does business with on this trip, and decided he would like for these guys to carry a little meat home. Well I think we accomplished that goal. We caught our limit of dolphin, jumped off a sailfish, and pulled off a wahoo or 2. Chris RUssell helped me out today because "Big Country" hurt himself pretty bad the other day, and needed stitches in his foot. Our prayers are for him to get better soon. Chris is no stranger to the *censored*pit however and will be the captain of Curtis and RUssell's new boat.

The entire fleet did well on dolphin and a few wahoo were caught for the fleet, and quite a few sailfish flags were flying for the weekend also! I have many open days available right now so give us a call to book an offshore adventure soon.

I know this picture has nothing to do with the last trip, but I love this one of my son Nicky.(future mate of the Diamond Girl)

Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Pics coming soon! 3 billfish just did not quite do it for us. We needed a double sailfish or white marlin, or a blue marlin to get us into the victory circle for the weekend. We managed to catch 2 out of 5 sails and whites on Friday, but only one sailfish on Saturday. We kept the pressure on, but just fell a little short, finishing in 6th place which really amounts to "not much".

We jumped off a white marlin, on Saturday and I thought we had one more hooked, but when the line came tight the hook came free, and the fish swam away. Oh well at least we caught a few, and were in the game until the bitter end. I believe we have some pics but I do not have them yet. So as soon as I get them I will post them. We do have some open dates on Sunday and next week, so if you are interested give us a call.

Dolphins, Dolphins, Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

I am going out on a limb and say the dolphin fishing was very good. Wahoo were also very cooperative, and there were also some billfish around with some blue marlin and sailfish caught. we did manage to catch a variety of species, but billfish was not one. A tuna, A barracuda, A 200lb bull shark, A king Mackerel, 4 wahoo, and 33 dolphin! Now that is variety in a nutshell.

Mark, Janet and the rest of the gang were a pleasure, and I hope next time they bring some marlin luck.

That headline has absolutely nothing to do with our trip with the Fullers. That is just a saying we used in our younger days. Blair is a very close friend of mine that I have known for 30 years or better. We have well..... anyway he brought his family offshore today, and it was a perfect day for the family. Big Al (his Dad) used to come to all of our bike races. (40lbs ago for me). His wife Tina of ummm a long time, Jordan, Aaron, and Landen Were all with him. THe last 3 are his children in case you were not sure.

They caught a load of fish, I think Aaron said something around 22 or so? Dolphin, and wahoo. Wonder if I will get an invite? Of course Charlotte is not quite next door to Morehead. Jordan released a nice dolphin also, and I think Landen jumped her turn a time or two, but it was great having them on the boat and I hope we can all get together again very soon.

So for now this is Nick Danger signing off!

Terry Kallum again? Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

My apologies go out to Terry, James, and the rest of the crew from Tuesdays trip. Especially Mark (I picked on him all day, but in good fun) I did not realize I had not done a report from their day of fishing. We had a great time and caught a few fish too. Marks fish was almost dead when he finally got it to the boat. Just kidding. We caught wahoo, and dolphin, and despite our best efforts we did not see a billfish. However they have enough meat to last a while anyway. Or at least until the next time.

3 out of 5! Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Wow today we went 3 for 5 on the sailfish, and jumped off a big blue marlin, oh and we caught some nice dolphin and a wahoo. Today it was our turn to get our shots at billfish and I must say we took advantage finally. As you can see by the picture the crew was a happy one, as well as the captain and mate. The billfishing has been good, and seems to be getting better. We are open next saturday due to a party asking to move their day to Sunday. So give us a call. The blue marlin was a nice fish as they all are, but this one was well over 400lbs. It really put on a show up until we lost it. I mean jumping from the time we hooked it till the time it got away. Maybe next time while your on the boat?

Or should that be a full 1/2 day? Anyway we put together a 3 boat charter for Danny and people from his company. They had meetings to attend in the afternoon, and they wanted to go fishing offshore. Danny called and asked if he payed for a fullday, but only fished a half day if that would be ok. Why sure it would, it just limits you to where and how you will fish. Despite the short day all 3 boats had a good day. We caught ourselves 7 dolphin, a blackfin, and a mansize false albacore. Big Hunter caught some dolphin and kings, and Delta Dawn caught a sailfish to go with his dolphin and a wahoo. Nonetheless we had a great time and my part of the crowd was very nice to fish with, and they were in some rather choppy conditions. We have next Monday and Wednesday open for now.

A billfish? Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Well we had a good day today with our group. David and his friends combined to bring in a nice catch of dolphin and wahoo, and we even managed to trick a sailfish. This one we even got to the boat for a release. 2 wahoo and 11 dolphin to go with the sailfish kept the crowd busy for a good portion of the day with a bout a 2 hour lull in the middle of the day. Conditions were not great to find a blue marlin, but we thought we would try anyway. Nothing ventured nothing gained. We have some inquiries about some up coming dates and the billfishing should be picking up. The Bill Collector saw 4 sailfish yesterday, and the day before several were caight this combined with some dolphin and wahoo should make for some fun and exciting trips.
