The white marlin is a small version
of the Blue Marlin, it is however even more
acrobatic, and twice as hard to hook. All of the billfish are my favorite fish
to catch, the nice thing is while you are fishing for them you generally catch
other species as well. The White Marlin is a beautiful fish that will jump
a lot
and usually catch them on lighter tackle. Many times if there is one there
are
more. It is not uncommon to have 3 to 4 in your spread at one time. We catch
these fish in many of the same areas as the Blue Marlin,
so that keeps you on
the edge of your seat all day, staring at the baits because all billfish
usually show themselves before the attack a bait. So what I am saying is stand
by for a lot of scrambling in the cockpit until the fish
is hooked! Then we
settle down for the task at hand and that is to grab the leader and release
the
fish. We catch the White Marlin in about the same time frame as the Blue
Marlin. Early spring through late summer.
